Literature Text

moonstruck-child wanders, wondering
'neath an ocean of vacuum space,
suppose the stars sing?
and the brilliant lights
drew her mind on a string,
arcing above, beyond, and
farther.

the ground was a curve,
minute humanity declaring
its desire to create stars
in glittering cities, festivals.
earthless-child gasped without breath
as her house could have fit
on her littlest finger.

oceans of sky frosted over,
as the sun took his leave
for Earth's other-side
and then,
and then...

star-bound child was listening
her stars were singing in soft
blinding melodies connecting,
an orchestra of silver light-breaks-the-dark.
songs we aren't wise enough to hear,
music that might break a heart,
or heal one.

back-to-earth girl
wanders no more;
she's turned her thoughts
from space to shore,
but still wonders,
if our planet is a star
in someone else's sky,
what sort of song have we
been singing?
.__. This was too ambitious of me, fitting two prompts into one poem.
Entry for Khaimin's contest.

Bullet; Black  Is the comparing of space to an ocean too far-fetched? Does it make the poem too muddled?
Bullet; Black  Is the concept just too weird to work with at all? It sort of popped into my head one night in Tokyo...I was on a travel-high back then.
Bullet; Black  If you find anything else off, please feel free to share!
